Catering

The most important element for some!

As we all know, a lot depends on the taste and selection of the food at any event, especially a wedding. We've all heard or even made comments such as the wedding was good but the food wasn't all that.

Caterers are often the heart of a wedding reception. If the food tastes great and there is plenty for everyone, people will leave the wedding satisfied and with fond memories. However, if you choose a caterer who is not knowledgeable about the amount of food to prepare, your guests will remember this, no matter how elegant and special the rest of the wedding was.

The first thing to do is decide on the selection of food you want at your wedding; do you want a three course sit down meal, a fork buffet or a finger buffet?

You need to know the number of guests you are expecting in order to determine how much food you need. Speak to and get quotes from at least 3, making sure you ask for a tasting session of the selection of food you have chosen.

One great way to find a caterer is to talk to friends who are already married and find out who they used as a caterer.

Advice from real brides

Finding the right caterer

When you hire a caterer for your wedding, you will need to meet with that person well before your event. When you go to interview a caterer, ask him or her how long they have been in business, how they decide how much food to serve and whether or not they provide the necessary plates and silverware. Also find out if they will clean up after themselves. It is also a good idea to find out if a caterer can accommodate individual dietary requirements, and how much deposit they require as well as their cancellation policy.
